General Information

Bogotá, officially Bogotá, Distrito Capital, abbreviated Bogotá, D.C., and formerly known as Santa Fe de Bogotá during the Spanish Imperial period and between 1991 and 2000, is the capital and largest city of Colombia. The city is administered as the Capital District, as well as the capital of, though not politically part of, the surrounding department of Cundinamarca. Bogotá is a territorial entity of the first order, with the same administrative status as the departments of Colombia. It is the main political, economic, administrative, industrial, cultural, aeronautical, technological, scientific, medical, educational and aiport center of the country and northern South America.

Continúan los incendios forestales en Colombia: Tolima concentra cuatro de las seis emergencias activas
grave crisis ambiental y de gestión del riesgo atraviesa el país al cierre de este 31 de agosto por cuenta de los incendios forestales que consumen amplias zonas del territorio nacional. El más reciente balance de la Unidad Nacional para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres (UNGRD) revela que permanecen seis emergencias activas y una bajo control, las cuales suman más de 440 hectáreas afectadas. Sin embargo, el departamento del Tolima se mantiene como el principal foco crítico, concentrando cuatro de las conflagraciones vigentes y un impacto acumulado que ya arrasa con decenas de miles de hectáreas en la región. La magnitud del fuego ha obligado a un despliegue masivo en municipios tolimenses como Cunday, Carmen de Apicalá, Suárez y Alvarado, donde las conflagraciones avanzan con fuerza y amenazan zonas veredales e incluso viviendas. Lea también: Fallas en los radares del aeropuerto El Dorado desataron tremendo caos y retrasos en vuelos A pesar de los esfuerzos interinstitucionales, en algunos puntos las labores nocturnas de los rescatistas se han visto truncadas debido a alteraciones del orden público, lo que dificulta el combate en tierra contra el fuego. Para mitigar las llamas, las Fuerzas Militares, la Policía Nacional y los cuerpos de bomberos mantienen operaciones combinadas en tierra y aire. Solo en el Tolima operan helicópteros equipados con sistemas de descarga de agua y líquido retardante, además de efectivos especializados en atención de desastres. Fuera de esta subregión, las autoridades monitorean focos en El Zulia (Norte de Santander) y El Cerrito (Valle del Cauca), mientras que en Policarpa (Nariño) el evento ya fue controlado. Más allá del daño biótico, el balance en el Tolima es devastador, con pérdidas económicas estimadas en miles de millones de pesos y severas afectaciones en el sector agropecuario y habitacional.
